No, not unless you want to. The purpose of this class is to teach you how to draw upon your own life experiences, memories and observations and turn them into comedy material. We will help you take rough ideas and transform them into specific jokes, stories and sets. However, if you have some pre-written material, please feel free to bring it along. 

Yes! You do not have to have a background in acting to do stand up. In fact, many new comics have zero prior performing experience.

We use a workshop format, with an emphasis on ”learning by doing.” You will be encouraged to get onstage each class to practice your performing and develop your jokes. You will be guided and taught in an intimate and supportive workshop environment by pro comics with guest lecturer comedians from Netflix, HBO and Comedy Central. At the end of the class, we will celebrate with a graduation show at a major club in NYC. And you will receive a free recording of your set. 

Absolutely! Stand Up Comedy Classes are a great way to improve your business and professional skills. The writing and performing, storytelling skills you learn in our class are skills which you can also use in your everyday work life. Many people take our class to improve their speaking skills, presentations, interacting with clients and co-workers… The writing and performing skills you learn in this class are invaluable in the professional world. Many of our students enroll with us in lieu of taking a public speaking course. 

Yes. Your graduation class will be held at a major comedy club, in the Broadway Theater District. 

Yes. everyone will receive a free recording of their set.
